Church History

Holy Fire Dynamic International Church (“Holy Fire”) is a religious organization with a mission to lead its members to God through Jesus Christ. Holy Fire was founded by Pastor Eric Kofi Owusu and was formally incorporated in January 2005, from humble beginnings. It is currently located at 1111 E Tremont Avenue in the borough of Bronx. Holy Fire has been at this location since 2005 and is one of the foremost churches in the Bronx. Its congregation consists of individuals from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and etc…it is truly an International Church. The Church has several days of worship: Sunday school (held in the mornings before the first service), the Main service on Sundays and second service held in the evenings. On Monday, there is bible studies held in the evenings via the church prayer line. There is counselling service on Tuesdays from morning to afternoon, where individuals can make an appointment to meet with the pastors for prayer and counselling. There is also Tuesday night service. There is Thursday morning devotion meeting (paying Homage to Pastor Eric’s humble beginnings). On Friday evenings, there’s all-night service beginning from 8pm to 2am. Our leadership team consists of the Head Pastor, Pastor Eric Kofi Owusu, Senior Pastors, Assistant Pastors, and Associate Pastors.

Our Ministries include the pastors’ team, the women’s fellowship, the men’s fellowship, the youth and young adult fellowship, the children’s department, the protocol teams, the welfare committee, The Building fund committee, the Evangelism Team, Outreach Team, Media Team, Music and Dance ministries and welcoming committee. Holy Fire performs baptism classes every year which culminates in baptisms for those who are yet to be baptized. At Holy Fire, everybody has a purpose, and a position should they want one. Holy Fire is a place where nobody becomes somebody.

At Holy Fire, our mission is to reach and develop souls for the Kingdom of God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to equip believers through the knowledge of God and discipleship. We strive to reach the world through the establishment of a Christ-based educational system and demonstrate the love of God by supporting widows and orphans and the neediest members of our community. At Holy Fire, we believe in the teachings of God about feeding the homeless and the poor, which is why, through our Outreach and Evangelism Teams, Holy Fire implemented Prison visits to preach to those incarcerated, Hospital visits to reach those who are sick, Nursing home visits to reach the more senior members of our community. Through the hard work and generous giving of our members, we can feed the homeless and give to those in the shelters. Each year, Holy Fire has 21 days fasting and prayers starting in August. On the last day of the fasting period, around the church, we setup a buffet of food ordered from local restaurants, and we feed the community while also preaching the word. Of our many accomplishments, perhaps, we are most proud of our Thanksgiving Drive. Each year, the Thanksgiving committee collects funds from church members, business owners in the church and around the community. We purchase over 1000 turkeys and groceries and distribute to community members and the needy. This drive has garnered attention and we have even been featured on News 12, the local TV station in the Bronx. This is a tradition that we hope to continue for many years to come.

One of the many lessons we learned from Covid is that there is always a need for the word of God. While the church was closed, our media team was able to broadcast service throughout multiple social media platforms. Even though church has resumed, our services are still broadcasted and have reached several people who could not worship with us in person. Our services our available via Facebook and Youtube. During the pandemic, the church continued to provide services to members who were without food and basic services. The church delivered food, prayed for individuals over the phone, provided physical activities via zoom and kept up moral.

We are proud of our church and its many accomplishments. We continue to grow by the grace of God, and we are praying for more blessings as we journey to find a more permanent place to worship. On this journey, may we remain humble and faithful so that our Father may say to us “well done my good and faithful servants.”
