General Overseer

Pastor Eric Kofi Owusu (“Pastor Eric”) is a dynamic man of God whose ministry has touched many lives in his generation. Born in Kumasi, Ghana, Pastor Eric’s childhood was marked by many struggles. Regardless, his untamed passion for the gospel at a young age allowed him to persevere in all his endeavors. Pastor Eric began his schooling at Amankwatia, a primary school located in Kumasi, Ashanti Region which is in the Southern part of Ghana. He then attended Kumasi Technical School for secondary school. While in school, Pastor Eric was heavily involved in ministry and decided to attend bible school and become a Minister. This led to his enrollment at Shiloh Bible Training Centre for Pastors – Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his bible training courses and was ordained Minister on March 17th, 2002. After completing bible school, Pastor Eric served at the Emmanuel Assemblies of God Church in Kumasi, Ghana, under the leadership of Rev. Duncan Nyarko, where he made himself available for the body of Christ. Before starting his own ministry, Pastor Eric led morning devotion Monday to Friday and all-night service on Wednesday evenings from 10pm to 4am. These devotional and All-night services were held in a park and quickly amassed a following because of his gift as a Prophet. He continued to serve under several pastors, first as an usher, then in the music ministry and then as associate pastor before founding his own church. The first church he founded is in Kumasi, Ghana. Following the success of the first Holy Fire Dynamic Word International Church (“Holy Fire”), Prophet Eric opened a second location in Accra, the capital of Ghana where the word of God can reach many more people. He continued to travel between both locations before migrating to the United States in 2003.

When he immigrated to the US, he settled in New York where he began morning devotion in the living room of his in-law’s house, where people will come and fellowship. This continued for several months until he moved services to a small location on Prospect Avenue in the Bronx, when membership grew, he moved to another location at 2505 Third Avenue- 3 rd floor, Bronx NY 10451, and then finally to 1111 E Tremont Avenue, where the church is currently located. The church was formally incorporated as Holy Fire Dynamic Word International Church in January of 2005. What started as a small congregation of believers in the living room quickly emerged to be one of the most powerful prophetic churches in the Bronx, New York— where Prophet Eric Kofi Owusu remains the Founder and General Overseer. He has gone on to ordain several pastors, who currently serve as senior and junior pastors at all branches of Holy Fire. The church currently enjoys growth in its membership and has needed a permanent place of worship for a very long time.

Pastor Eric is involved with several organizations of pastors including an organization called Shepard to Shepard. This is an organization of Pastors throughout the United States, Caribbean, and Africa. Shepard to Shepard is a network of clergies whose fundamental principles are prayer, maintaining an intimate relationship with God and being one another’s keepers. This group operates under the principles of Proverb 27:17 that iron can sharpen Iron to become sharper Iron. Pastor Eric is also a part of Impart Ministerial International Network, an organization that is dedicated to the continuous teaching and training of Pastors. In addition to being the head pastor at Holy Fire, Pastor Eric is often invited to be guest Pastor/speaker at several churches throughout the United States, Europe, Africa and in the Caribbean. He travels often to Ghana to visit the two branches in Accra and Kumasi and splits his time between the New York branch and the New Jersey Branch. Pastor Eric continues to mentor young men and women in the teachings of Christ, and he is an example of the embodiment of Christ. Pastor Eric is currently writing a book about the struggles of his childhood and his call to become a follower of Jesus Christ.
